Mormonism and Biblical Truth

A LETTER TO CHRISTIANS,
FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to Mormonism and Biblical Truth!

Each of the articles on this site explains both the Mormon and the biblical teachings (with references). If you can spare the time to read through them all, you will gain both an in-depth understanding and a working knowledge of Mormonism that will stand you in good stead. You will find this invaluable, as although Mormons use biblical terminology, they apply their own exclusive meanings to these terms. So you could actually be under the false impression that you are discussing the same thing, or that your beliefs agree, when in reality nothing would be further from the truth.

You will be able to access an index to all the articles on the home page by following this link:

A very brief article, explaining the beliefs of Mormonism contrasted with the teachings of the Bible, will be found by following the link What is Mormonism?

ETERNAL PROGRESSION

The basic doctrine upon which Mormonism of today either stands or falls is "The Law of Eternal Progression." You will find information on eternal progression included in these articles:

CLEARING UP THE FALLACIES

There are a few red herrings that have been laid down by the LDS church that need to be dealt with right at the start, before any Mormon would be willing to seriously consider the likelihood that biblical Christianity is the truth. Firstly, Joseph Smith, their prophet and founder, maintained that the early church went into total apostasy shortly after the death of Christ's apostles. He also claimed that God had removed His authority for the gospel from the earth and that He later restored it to the LDS church. His third claim was that the Bible had been corrupted to the extent that it is no longer reliable. You will find some answers to these deceptions by following these links:

THE MORMON TESTIMONY

Mormons are taught to bear their testimonies whenever their beliefs are challenged. So if they do so whilst you are ministering to them, this does not necessarily mean that they don't believe you or that they don't get the point you are trying to get across to them. It could mean quite the opposite. Furthermore, because they are taught that to lose their testimonies would result in their apostasy and eventually being cast into outer darkness, they sometimes cut off contact if they feel threatened by proof of the deception involved in their religion.
